Yesterday the local council were trimming the hedges around my village. They odviously don't care about the environment in the very slighest, either that or they are incredibly stupid (which is quite likely), because what they don't seem to realise is that this is the time of year when birds begin finding a mate, and build a nest. House sparrows nest in some of these hedges, and use them as protection, without them, they'll have to find other places, making it more stressful. Hedges should be trimmed late in the year, not now!

I have a group (5 ish/6ish) of Horse chesnut trees opposite my house, which are covered in Ivy, and each year a Tawny owl usually roosts and nests in the Ivy. But i came home two days ago to find all the ivy having been cut off by the local council. This not only stops the owl breeding in anyway, but also stops any hope of the owl returning to just simply roost. It's things like this that annoy me, especially at this time of year. (sorry for the essay)
You could actually report the council for doing that. I'm going to send my local council an email, and it won't be a very nice one either. I'd do the same if I were you, saying how serious it is for the species, have a real go at them for it.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I like having a good go at somebody for a Wildlife cause.
I do as well. If you have a go at someone, it gets it all off your chest, if you can shout at them.
I've had an issue with my local council before, about hedge cutting, and then recently I've complained because my school recycles paper, not plastic, because the council arn't prepared to come and collect it. They could actually collect them both at the same time. "LAZY" would be a very key word to use here. The council are idiots, they don't have a single brain cell between them.
Hi,
I hate it when the council do things like this. In my opinion the government are too blind to environmental and wildlife issues. Definitely write that email, and as you said, it is quite fun having a go at the council when yu have a good reason ;).
